Mike Lemke was one of the first contestants.  He flew a Viper IV on four D12's, but only three lit.  Still, he was close to getting a prize with 48 points.

Scott Cook got in a nice flight with his BP Express.  He lit seven E9's for 126 points and third place.

This is Doug Sams' Super Better Bertha on a nine motor cluster for 112 points.

Here's Dave Schaefer's winning Clustered "F" Squared.  Dave had enough wire there to install telephone service in a third world village :)

Here's the winning rocket leaving the pad.

Another shot of the Clustered "F" Squared, from a different camera.  All seven boosters and all seven sustainers lit for a whopping total of 245 points.

Doug Sams holds up first prize (Madcow Buzzie) during the announcement of results.

Here's a close up of Doug Sams' 2.6" Midget upscale right at motor ignition.  One of the D12 ignitor plugs is visible below the left sustainer fin.  The booster fins are almost hidden by the smoke.

The winds were nearly dead calm when this one went up on three D12-0's staged to three D12-7's.  It had a straight up boost and went out of sight briefly until the tracking smoke kicked in just before ejection.

The winds got calm just before the range closed Saturday evening.  This 2.2" upscale Midget leaves the rod with three C6-0's and one D12-0 burning.  The flight was worth 85 points.

Ted Macklin won this cluster motor mount for flying a cluster of three E9's for the 5th prize.

Gary Briggs flew one of the most impressive rockets of the contest.  This upscale Black Widow was boosted on a cluster of three C6's and three D12's.  It also provided one of the most impressive wrecks, too, when the booster remained stuck to the sustainer after the three E9's lit.  The sky was littered with debris, some of it burning.  The fire was quickly put out.  Hopefully Gary's spirits aren't dampened any.

Sunday morning's calm was the perfect time for the only 3-stage flight of the event.  Here, Doug Sams' Uber Tuber races skyward on a cluster of three B6's and a D12.  The C11 2nd stage and D12 3rd stage both lit for a fantastic flight worth 105 points.

We at DARS extend our hearfelt thanks to Madcow Rocketry and jonrocket.com for their sponsorship of this event.  Please consider them during your next rocket shopping trip on the web.  DS.
