| This Estes Big Bertha was found in my attic soon
after I became a BAR in 1999. I received it around 1970. It was one
of the first follow-up kits I got after my initial starter set in 1969.
When I found it, three fins were missing and the body tube had several
crease marks in it. It had been painted red, white and blue quite badly
as a 9-year-old might do.
The missing fins were replaced and the creases repaired with Elmer's
Finishing Wood Filler. The nosecone is the old, long one made of
balsa.
It is now too precious to fly, so it was given a retirement send up
and is now displayed proudly in my rocket cabinet,
The Tango Papa decals were recently added, and came out perfect. |
