In conjunction with my
1.4x uscale Midget T35 build, I also built
this 1.6x upscale. And like the Midget T35, it uses Quest tubing,
this time T40.
The silver fin wasn't part of the original paint scheme, but soon after
building it, the fin got dinged up so I painted it silver as part of
the cosmetic fix.
Subsequently, another fin got dinged up, but I've left that mar
untouched. It seems some rockets just gotta have scars.

The booster diameter was made scale by using Quest T30 tubing.
Custom centering rings came from BMS.
The rocket flies on 24mm motors. A D12-0 to D12-7 gives it a
great ride, but I usually motor down a bit to make tracking and
recovery a bit easier. I had a stash of C11-0 boosters that are
perfect for the Midget T40.

Here's
in interesting shot of the sustainer motor after a recent flight.
It ignited and flew fine. But, as can be seen in the pic at
right, the motor case delaminated around the nozzle. This
extended forward about 1/2" from the end. It's not a great
concern, but it is an interesting sight. I've flown hundereds ot
staged flights like this one, but have never seen anything like this.
