Two Estes Fat Boys were combined to make this
Long Boy. It has a 29mm motor mount. The fins were reinforced
by laminating them with 1/64" plywood. It turned out kinda heavy.
80g of noseweight was required to give it marginal stability with
about 0.8 calibers between the CP and the CG. It's nearly a pound
when loaded with an F23-7, but it flies great.
The blue band at the top was added after repairing a zipper. BT-80
is a little light for F motors. The repair included a layer of light
fiberglass. A LOC 2.6" tube would have been a much better starting
point for this kind of upgrade. |
