LOC3" Interchangeable Motor Mount System

Inspired to build an upscale Ranger, I opted to use some paper roll cores I have stashed in the attic.  These have an inside diameter only slightly larger than LOC 3" tubing, and with a little effort, users can make interchangeable parts which will fit both tubes.

In a true sense of upscaling, this rocket would have a triple motor mount, but since the 3" tube can actually take four 29mm motor tubes, I opted to make interchangeable motor mounts which give me both options.  Later I added a 38mm mount for times when I want something less complicated than a cluster.

The motor mounts slide over, and are anchored by, a 4-40 all-thread which runs along the inside wall of the fin can.  The 3x and 4x 29mm mounts have screws built into their centers for motor retention.

The 1x38 mount has a single "Kaplow Klip" to retain the motor.

The rings are coated with aircraft dope to give them an ablative coating. Without it, the wood will get charred.  Occasional re-coats are needed to maintain the protective coating.

As with the BT-60 and BT-70 motor systems, gussets are added around the hole that the all-thread attaches through to add strength in this high stress place.

The craft sticks were glued on to extend the assemblies the full length of the fin can.  I had a good stash of short LOC 29mm motor tubes, and wanted to make use of them, so the craft sticks were the solution.
